Presented by San Francisco Silent Film Festival in collaboration with the Ghiberti Center for Culture at Grace Cathedral.

Cecil B. DeMille's epic telling of the life and passion of Christ was a silent-era blockbuster. The film blended spectacle and reverence, with text taken directly from the Bible and featuring a cast of thousands. Lobster Films of Paris has restored the rarely seen complete version with beautiful two-color Technicolor segments, and SFSFF's screening at San Francisco's magnificent Grace Cathedral will be its American premiere. Acclaimed organist David Briggs will accompany the film on the cathedral's 7,466-pipe Aeolian-Skinner organ.

David Briggs is an internationally renowned organist whose performances are acclaimed for their musicality, virtuosity, and ability to excite and engage audiences of all ages. Consistently ranked as one of the finest organists of his generation, David's extensive repertoire spans five centuries. He has also become one of the foremost organ transcribers of symphonic works, thereby giving listeners the opportunity to experience the organ in a new way. Fascinated by the art of improvisation since a child, David frequently performs improvisations to silent films such as The Phantom of the Opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Nosferatu, Metropolis, The General, and a variety of Charlie Chaplin films. He is currently artist-in-residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.
